DAR Design was established by artist blacksmith Andrew Rowe in 1990, to design and manufacture unique pieces of art metalwork as commissions.
Work has included small and large projects, ranging from architectural grilles and lighting to public sculpture, and most recently, a forty meter span pedestrian bridge. Whether a design for a specific item, or concept and proposal for an overall scheme, the aim is always to achieve an original design, which is site specific and unique, tailored to the client’s requirement.
The business has been firmly established on an understanding of materials and processes. After graduating with a degree in three dimensional design in metal in 1985, invaluable experience was gained over a number of years working as an artist blacksmith journey man with master craftsmen across Europe and North America. Many of the skills gained were subsequently put to use as a part time lecturer to degree level, as a blacksmith training officer in central Africa, and as a consultant to the United Nations in Nigeria.
Collaborative projects with glass artists and other designers have led to numerous international projects, including the design and project management of works in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Barbados.

Sefydlwyd DAR ym 1990 gan Andrew Rowe, i ddylunio a chynhyrchu darnau o waith celf metel unigryw fel comisiynau.
Mae’r gwaith a wnaed yn cynnwys projectau bach a mawr sy’n amrywio o griliau pensaernïol a goleuadau i gerflunwaith cyhoeddus ac, yn fwyaf diweddar, pont gerdded deugain metr o hyd. Dyluniad gwreiddiol, unigryw sy’n benodol i’r safle ac sy’n ateb union ofynion y cleient yw’r nod bob tro, boed yn ddyluniad ar gyfer eitem benodol neu’n gysyniad a chynnig ar gyfer cynllun gyfan.
Mae’r busnes wedi’i sefydlu’n gadarn ar ddealltwriaeth dda o ddefnyddiau a phrosesau. Wedi derbyn gradd mewn dylunio tri dimensiwn mewn metel ym 1985, cafwyd profiad amhrisiadwy wrth weithio am nifer o flynyddoedd ar daith gyda chrefftwyr o fry ledled Ewrop a Gogledd America. Ar ôl hynny rhoddwyd nifer o’r sgiliau a ddysgwyd ar waith wrth ddarlithio rhan amser i lefel gradd, gweithio fel swyddog hyfforddi gofaint yng Nghanol Affrica ac fel ymgynghorydd i’r Cenhedloedd Unedig yn Nigeria.
Mae projectau cydweithredol gydag artistiaid gwydr a dylunwyr eraill wedi arwain at nifer o brojectau rhyngwladol, gan gynnwys dylunio a rheoli projectau yn Hong Kong, Singapore, Tsieina a Barbados.
